Mango people, banana republic. How comments can cost in social these days.

Robert Vadra, Ms Priyanka Gandhi’s husband, once remarked on Facebook, in response to corruption allegations made by critics in India – “Mango people in a banana republic”.

He is clearly clever, for he knows what a Banana Republic is. Wiki defined it unflatteringly as ” A politically unstable country whose economy has typically stratified social classes, including a large, impoverished working class and a ruling plutocracy that comprises the elites of business, politics, and the military.

This politico-economic oligarchy controls the primary-sector productions and thereby exploits the country’s economy.”

These comments have come back to haunt the Gandhi family and could cost one of it’s youngest scions her seat in parliament plus the chance to lead it.

Another reminder, after the one administered by Justine Sacco, and only a few days ago, Steve Martin, to think before you tweet- or post!
