What’s in a name?


Quite a lot I’d say. Which is why I was a bit surprised when Google decided to christen its latest Android update – Kit kat.

What’s wrong with Kit Kat?

Not much. Except that there’s a risk that it could be polarising. And draw Google (unnecessarily) into an ugly and ongoing debate between environmental groups (who include Greenpeace) and the Swiss giant.

For Nestle and Kit Kat (which I happen to like and support by the way) this is a marketing coup.

For Google, and Android I’m not so sure.
